At least try..
So hopefully everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holidays. Now that the big meals and gathering of friends and family has come to pass, at least till Christmas. Now is the chance to regroup thoughts and efforts towards keeping our fitness on track. As with everyone else, We all have that moment of overindulgence that comes with these special times of the year. But the key is to not allow it to set us back on the path we chose to change for the better.
With that mindset in check, I am back to concentrating on getting "back in the saddle again" with my workouts and diet. I will admit with the holiday and the "cold bug' I have been fighting off. My schedule had been thrown of from my usual routine. But getting right back into it when I was able to was always on my mind. Now I realize that not very many people might take the time to read these blogs that I write. And as it stands I only have one follower who is a support good friend.
But I definately appreciate anyone that is willing to take the time out of there day to look them over, and follow me if you would like. I will do my best in the future to share helpful tips I come across, along with sharing my daily experiences for those of the same interest in fitness. That said, I wish everyone that is reading this blog a very productive Monday and week. And please stop by again soon.

Setbacks and Distraction.
Something I have come across in my own fitness training has been setbacks and distractions. As I'm sure I have mentioned at one point on Facebook or in this blog is my recent dealings with a chest cold. While this has caused a interuption in my regular exercise schedule, I have also noticed that my focus has been off as well.
This has brought me to the decision that I will need to reevalutate my current program schedule and make changes accordingly. I should be on week 5 of Insanity this week had I not been delayed by not feeling well enough to keep up for a week now. So what I was trying to do is start week 4 over this week. While yesterday was sadly a wash out because I left early for work and didnt allow for time to workout ahead of time. Then when I came home I seem to crash right out after my wife and I had dinner. By no means am I trying to make any of this sound like excuses. I have been legitimately ill. I am frustrated at this point because I simply need to get back on track.
My intention is to continue with Insanity as soon as possible. I did start Pure Cardio this morning, but without getting "boo hoo' about it, I dont think I'm ready yet because I had to stop. So that's when i reached for the weights and started a Total Body workout. This is where the DISTRACTION came in. I found myself not being able to keep my focus which just frustrated me more. So this is why I see I will have to make another plan on attack to get back into it.
One of my biggest concerns as it would for anyone on a regular schedule is losing progress. At this point I wouldn't say I have lost alot of progress yet. But I have definately stunted it for sure. So I'm going to get ready for work and when I get home tonight I'm going to make a point to at least get some form of exercise in, even if it's doing simple squats.
Then once the holiday is over I'm going to get myself back on a program schedule again. If its Insanity then I may simply start fresh again with it. Or I may even do another round of P90X. Either way I'm going to get back in the swing of things sooner than later for sure. With this lapse of workout schedule, I have tried my best to keep my diet intact as much as I possibly can, because that is also a major component of keeping on track. Even when a workout is missed here and there. Thanks for taking the time if you read this.

So.. Why did I get into Network Marketing and Beachbody?
As many of you have noticed if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter. I tend to post links and information quite often in regards to a company called Beachbody, P90X, or whatever workout I'm doing for that day. I'm sure there are some of you that think " Cripes here's another Spammer in the making'. And to be honest with you, I had the same opinion of others when I would see these sort of things pop up in the past.
But then I realized it's more important that someone knows the background behind the actions before making a judgement. I started getting involved in Beachbody as what they would call a "Coach" back in December of 2009. This was not an easy decision for me to make and took quite a while to take the plunge to be honest. But I had started using the Beachbody products ( aka P90X ) about a year before that after getting completely fed up with how I looked and felt everyday. And I will never stand here and tell you that was not the "best" decision I made for me at the time. Getting in shape with P90X that is.
And my experience in the beginning with aquiring my own "coach" was mixed from the start. Because what happens is if you order a workout program from say "a coach and their website", or you buy it from an infomercial you see on late night tv or the weekends. You are automatically assigned either the coach whose site you went on, or Beachbody assigns one if you order from the commecials. This does NOT happen if you order from say, Craigslist, Ebay, QVC.
And sometimes you may not quite care for the person that you are assigned to for a number of different reasons.
What a coaches job is, is to be your support mechanism while you are working your way through your newly aquired workout program. This includes answering general "program related questions", help with issues, or simply "being there to help motivate the person along the way. SO THAT'S WHAT REALLY TURNED ME ON TO DOING THIS.
Did I think I was going to get RICH doing this? Not really.. I will admit in the beginning I got stars in my eyes and tried to concentrate on the avenues of making money while being this "coach that I was" for Beachbody. But I found out in a short time that that's not the real way to approach this. And honestly,, Who is going to want to be associated with you if they see your only in it for the $$$$$? I wouldn't want to be. Because I know in the long run that persons going to simply look at me as a "$number$" and not a person. That's not my way or belief and never will be. Does that mean maybe it will hold me back from making the kind of money some others do at businesses like this? Perhaps.. But at least I can go to sleep at night with a clear mind knowing I'm in it for the right reasons, which is helping others.
Now I know half of you have stopped reading this by now. Because you've been pulled away to do your daily events. Or you have "short attention span like I have at times". That's ok I forgive you :). But if you are reading still, I will wrap this up. I wanted people to know why I decided to do this Network Marketing business last year. And why I stick with it, even if I'm not making a six figure income within a year. Am I making money for the company in the process. Sure I am. But it's not necessarily hurting me financially to do so. And aside from the fees I pay for the websites I'm provided. I get actual physical products and materials for what I pay for.
And yes if your wondering at this point. Have I made any money doing this? Yes I have made some money doing this. Could I make more over time? Yes I could do that as well. But I have chosen the road of honestly and integrity. Which for me can take a little longer to reach some goals but I do it the right way for me and anyone else I'm involved with. There may come a day when I decide that this venture has run it's coarse for me and I make the choice to move on. But for now I remain "interested" and intrigued by the company and their mission to spread good health. Some look at this as a "headhunter" business. It's not if your engaged in it the "right way". Its a business of fitness. So those that choose to be engaged in it have to live the lifestyle regularly. Or you better be a "damn good" photoshop master and hope noone ever catches you out eatin donuts at the local coffee shop. hahaha!
Ok enough said for now. If you made it this far, I blessed and very appreciative of your time. And now a moment for our sponsors www.beachbodycoach.com/jayburd73
Hahaha! Ask me questions if you like, join me in Beachbody, workout with me, I'm here and I enjoy it.
Have a great day everyone!

Back to exercising. Care to join me? Then read paragraph 2 and on.
So I have slowly started back with my exercise routine this week after fighting with a sinus/ chest cold. I will admit that I don't get sick all that often anymore. So when I do I get kinda moppey. Bur I knew that my goal was to get better enough to get back at it as soon as I could. I started back yesterday with doing the Insanity "Pure Cardio workout. I certainly managed a rough example of how it is done for sure! haha! I had to take alot more breaks and didn't quite make it to the end. Today however was much better with Plyometric Circuit. I was able to get to the end with just a few stops in between.
You know I think to myself alot quite often that it's too bad not more of my friends might be willing to try out stuff like this. Many of my friends have children and schedules that they keep. And I'm willing to bet that there's a good amount of them that could find the time to include this in their days. Every so often I hear from one or the other saying they are planning to go to the gym, or they have to make the time to get there this week.
I say why make the time to leave and go anywhere. When you can have your own workout right in the comfort of your own home? Then there's the money issue. "I don't have the money to buy a workout program! Oh but you do have the money for the gym membership, and the money for fuel to get there, and the occassional stop at dunkin donuts on the way ther or back from it. Or even a slurge at the energy drink bar in the gym. And yes I've been there too.
See it all comes out to make better sense when you stop and put it in perspective. So lets look at the benefits of working out at home. MORE TIME WITH THE FAMILY ( Workout together, involve the kids! If nothing more its fun to waych them try ) LITTLE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO DO IT ( Much of what I do is alot of body weight exercises, or simply having some free weights oh hand or exercise bands ) YOUR GONNA SAVE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN ( While other are spending money on renewing the gym membership each year, the fuel cost, etc. The most you will spend is a couple bucks on some electricity you use for the TV set.
So these are some valid points I feel make it very appealing to workout from home. Oh and another thing is there is "less excuses'. The gym is already there at your fingertips. You dont have to drive to the tv to get it done. haha!
While I didn't intially expect this Blog to be me explaining the "benefits of working out at home". It's just been something on my mind for a while that I wanted to share. I'll put my link up here for those of you that are interested in taking a look at the different workouts available. And please if your interested in trying something out. CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE THE PURCHASE THRU MY SITE. I talk to so many different people and I cant tell you how many time when they decide to buy something they go to another site or the corporate shopping site. So I could use the support. And I'm here to help so if your willing to give it a try, then I will be here to help all the way. I love this very much, and am so pleased with what its done for me. And what I know it can do for others like you. :)

Visited St Anne's Art and Cultural Center in Woonsocket, RI yesterday. Beautiful and sad.
My wife and I went to a mystery auction that took place at a church in Woonsocket, RI. If anyone is wondering what a "mystery" auction is. It simply means they had wrapped gifts they were auctioning off to raise money. They had announcers that would give hints as to what was inside each package, and people would bid on each one based on how interested the hints made them. The event itself although felt like it went on for a longer time then expected, turned out to be a good evening.
Although the auction was the main event of the evening. It was not what moved me as much as the place it took place. We were in the basement of St Anne's Art and Cultural Center in Woonsocket, RI. When we arrived we were offered a tour of the church from our friend that had invited us and was hosting the event. When we took the elevator to the main church floor. It was like we stepped into a scene from " The Divinci Code"! This church was absolutely amazing! And I only wish I had taken pictures of the "high painted ceilings, architecture, and statues!
Now I am not a religious man to be honest. But I can say I am a spiritual person. When I was a child I can remember joining my grandmother for Sunday morning masses. And I remember being in awe over the look of the insides of the church we would be in. But this one was far more amazing then any other I had ever been in! And the sad thing about the visit was finding out that the reason we were there was to help raise money simply to help pay for heating the church. You see, this was one of the churches that was closed when the controversy came out about other churches and the abuses going on within them. From what I understand this particular church was not part of that mess. But due to funding issues as a result of it, this church was forced to close by the Diocese.
So the remaining members of the church have come together to do what ever they can to raise money to continue to simply "keep the heat on". Because if this church was left to sit and freeze over, then all the beautiful artwork would eventually be destroyed. Now I understand the issues that arose with the churches and the shady practices that they did. But its sad to see things of beauty like this church simply go to waste, simply because it became a casualty of circumstances. So to this I say BRAVO to those willing to step forward and preserve a place like this.
I only wish I has taken pictures to show this place I had a chance to see. Because sadly it may one day no longer be there to be seen and admired.

Putting things in prospective.
One thing that I have noticed since I started taking better care of myself over the last 2 + years. Is I never really get sick as often as I use to. I have managed in the last couple days to adopt a bit of a sore throat. And if my wife could speak for me. She would tell you how I manage to transform into a 2 year old whenever I am sick. So I'm sure she is thankful it doesnt happen often too ;) Haha!
But for the most part thats been the extent of negative effects in my overall health. And to be honest, I'm thankful as I get older to manage my health better. This has at times brought me to think of my freinds and family and how they take care of themselves too. I come from a family that has always had issues with weight and even diabetes. Fortunately some have taken it apon themselves to go through major surgeries in order to correct this. And that had brought some positve results and also complications as well. it would be so much easier if people realized that all they need to do is include more activity and exercise in their daily lives, and eat healthier to aquire the same results. And in many cases improve themselves even more than they would going "under the knife", or deal with complications.
So even though we still live in a world of 'quick fixes" and instant gratifications'.There is still a growing interest in people that are willing to put the effort in to making the necessary changes in their lives and health, and be able to say "Yes I did this"!! That is 100% better than any pill, potion, or surgery can do for a person. Because not only does it just change a persons physical appearance. It changes their heart, their minds and their dreams. At least that's the way I see it. :) And I truly hope more and more people realize the benefits of this and make those changes in their own lives. Because then it won't matter what kind of health insurance changes happen in the world. You'll be a healthier and happier person inside and out, and won't need to wait in that line for the next "quick fix" or medical miracle. And the satisfaction of knowing all it took was you.

Who is Carl Daikeler?
As many of you have noticed. I have associated my fitness success and efforts with a company called Beachbody
( The makers of great workouts like P90X and Insanity )
While the man I mention in the title of this blog ,Carl Daikeler is the CEO of Beachbody. Last Summer I had the pleasure of taking part in a training session for Beachbody in which Carl was also able to attend.
The reason I made this blog about Carl is because I wanted to share with people the inspiration I get from this man. Carl is a successful business man, a family man, and a great supporter and motivator to those of us that spend each day sharing with others the passion we have for health, wellness and the great products and support that got us here.
With many companies out there that have success in whatever it is that they promote. It is not always common that the CEO of that company is out there supporting his employees and helping keep their motivation and moral up in the way Carl does for Beachbody and it's coaches ( representatives).
Every week Carl takes time from his day to speak with people and "the coaches" and share words of inspiration, reassurance, and gratitude for the efforts put forth by his representatives. And he spends his weeks traveling across the world to speak face to face with as many as he can continuously. While managing a family of his own as well.
That to me makes for a person worthy of looking up to, inspired to follow in the steps of, and well worthy of my time and thanks in the blog. That said, Thank you Carl for all your great support and efforts in "spreading the words of good health and fitness. And your continued support in those of us that join you in this mission.

Life, Love and Exercise. A Must Read!
Ok.. So I titled this one a "must read" for a reason ofcourse. This morning after my workout was done and I was getting my breakfast prepared. I was thinking about the commitment that I decided to put forth a couple years ago to get in better shape and get healthier. I thought about how my life in general had improved 10 fold in the last 6 years, meeting my wonderful wife and becoming part of a great family. The thoughts of one day having our own family to raise, teach and nuture.
And ofcourse I thought of the negative things that have passed along the way. But the core of having great family support and family and my own goals in this life have seen me through these tough times, over and over again.
Now many times as I am posting a workout that I did for the day on say Facebook, or maybe on occassion Twitter. I think to myself what runs through the minds of those that read these little moments I share online with people?
I did one time have an old friend say to me " All you ever do is post your workouts for the day'. Ok sure I guess thats fair to say for the most part. But would people rather be notified every time I say " pass gas" or have a hang nail??
Or would hearing about something that I'm doing in my daily life that is making me feel better about myself and healthier for myself and my family more important. I feel the latter on this one!
Now this brings me to the " Must Read" part. One thing I have noticed being part of social media for as long as I have now. Not only do people share snippets of their lives on them week by week, day by day. But you also have the great chance to see some people and their families grow and succeed and embrace life to the fullest. Then there are the ones you see that "appear' as they are having great times week by week, aka parties, drinking, etc.
But from an outside view it can appear as though these moments of enjoyment over time are showing a toll on the participants. an example might be " gradual weight gain" or poor health appearance. And believe me, unless your a "photoshop guru'. Little of these changes can be hidden from a picture.
I speak from my own experience on this subject. As a picture that was shared on one of the social networks years ago showing myself " unhealthy and very overweight"! Stayed with me in my own head and heart and motivated me to make the changes I have today.
So rather then ramble on more about this subject. I will leave it with a thought for those that read it to ponder. Have you taken a look at yourself and made a decision on how you feel about where you are and how you feel? Are you comfortable with that decision? If there were things you could change ' health", 'weight" to better yourself and benefit your family with having you around longer and more active. Would that be worth the effort for you?
Or is the next " drinking binge" or trip to the buffet what you look forward to still? Again I'm not judging. I was there once too.
I know many of you have seen my mentions of the products i use that helped me make the changes I have. This isnt a sales pitch at all. This is a good friend that cares very much for his friends and wishes the best for them and their families as well.
It doesnt take a miracle to make a change. It just takes you to want to make that change. And for many of you there are families to consider too.
So that's what I have to share today. Think about it. I did. And I'm a better person for it today.

Insanity Workout. My thoughts so far.
Hey everyone,
So I thought I'd post about how Insanity is going fo me at this point. I'm now currently half way thru week 3. I did have a missed workout yesterday which I made up for this morning. Which I think is key in any fitness program or schedule. You may miss one here and there for whatever reason ( Life happens, or quite honest you may just be tired like I was last night ). But getting right back at it is the goal.
So what I think so far is this. I like the workouts for sure. I am definately starting to see some changes in my definition. My muscle texture is coming out more, and body fat appears to be reducing to show more. I have noticed my thighs are getting more muscle to them. Which for me feels weird because I'm not use to the jeans catching in that area since I was fat. But it looks good so that's what matters.
I have had some people tell me that their joints ache after doing the workouts for a while. I haven't noticed that myself yet personally. But I will say I have had days where I feel like I have like a "jet lag" feeling. But for the most part I'm very pleased with the program so far. I know I have the "really crazy' stuff coming in month 2. So I have to gear up for that.
But I plan to share more here in blogs and at some point even share videos. But it's time for work so I must go. Have a great day everyone. And feel free to post your own thoughts or questions here too.
